Oh my word, y'all! How has it been over a week since I last wrote? I wish I could tell you it's because I've been busy decorating for the holidays and I have some easy but awesome ideas to share ... or because I was inspired to start sewing again ... or because Scott had whisked me off for a week-long trip to the mountains. {A girl can dream, right?} But really, all that's been happening here is the same mundane stuff of life that you deal with also. As I sit here looking out the window at ... [Read More]
Slowing Down When Life Is Busy
Lately I've sort of felt like I've been meeting myself coming and going. We're in the beginning weeks of the busiest time of year at the Underwood Abode. From the time school starts until the National Championship football game, it's full speed ahead. You'd think after years of it being this way, I wouldn't find myself so shocked when it all starts. But here I sit, two and a half weeks into September, thinking, "Oh my word! I'm tired already." My body and soul need space and quiet and rest. ... [Read More]
On Fruit and Monday Mornings
{This post may contain affiliate links. If you purchase through them I will receive a small commission at no additional cost to you.} Some Monday mornings don't look quite like we had planned. For years I've been personalizing Scripture in my prayers ... but hearing the words of Scripture personalized as a message to me ... [Read More]
A Monday Morning Choice
It's 8:06 a.m. as I type this. I have a major writing deadline at noon today. My house is a wreck. The laundry is out of control. My back is aching. The storm last night left a HUGE mess in my backyard. And my quiet time this morning was less encouraging and more convicting. I hate it when Monday barges in like she's the boss of me. Every part of my flesh wants to whine and put on Facebook how overwhelmed I am, how badly my week is starting, how tired I feel ... But there's this: . . . ... [Read More]
The Wonder of Growing Up
That's my girl ... on her first day of high school. She was equal parts excited and terrified as I dropped her off last Thursday. We managed, for the first time ever!, to be ready early on the first day of school ... and so we have actual first day of school pictures achieved without any screaming or crying or rushing. A gift, y'all. Then, because clearly the Lord has opened the floodgates of blessing for my girl, we arrived at the school right behind her two very best friends and all three ... [Read More]
