When Prayers for Girls becomes Prayers for Myself

Y'all, Prayers for Girls is really doing a number on me. In the best possible way ... but also the hardest. I can't even begin to list all the ways God has met me in the middle of my utter helplessness over the past few months as I've tried to shepherd this growing tribe of mommas who are desperate to cover their girls with the Word. I have all the feels, y'all.  ALL of them. The more I pray through these Scriptures for my daughter, the more I realize they are also my prayers for myself. This ... [Read More]

{ABIDE Day 2} Bring Burdens to Him

Welcome to day two of ABIDE, a five-step plan to start the new year intentionally. Yesterday, I shared the most important step we must take if we are serious about learning to abide in Christ: acknowledge Him first.  A daily quiet time is vital to our spiritual growth and, honestly, there is no way to mature in our faith outside of a commitment to time in the Word every day. But, here's the thing ... even when we are faithful to read the Bible every day, even when we are praying and ... [Read More]

Top 10 Posts of 2015

Can you believe we're less than a week away from 2016? This year feels like it passed so quickly.  All those moms who smiled at me when my girl was a baby and said, "Don't blink!" were so right!!  My girl will turn 16 in less than two months.  What??  {I find this most amazing since I haven't gotten any older at all since she was born. haha!} I looked over all the posts I wrote in 2015 and made a list of the top ten {measured by numbers of page views and social media sharing}. So, here ... [Read More]

Prayers for Girls {or what to do when God hits you with a two by four}

Y'all, I suppose by now you're well aware I announced an exciting new project a few days ago. It's been crazy! Scott and I were headed to the Auburn-Ole Miss game {I really just can't talk about that right now} and we were amazed as literally hundreds of people were connecting with a community on Facebook and signing up to receive monthly Scripture-based calendars. Here's the thing: If ever anyone was not qualified to lead a prayer-based ministry it is me. Prayer is overwhelming to me. ... [Read More]

Sunday Meditations || Colossians 3:17

Welcome to this week's Sunday meditation! This week's prayer is based on Colossians 3:17. Father, we know we need Your wisdom as we pursue this counter cultural life. Give us the courage and desire to commit fully to the people and opportunities you give us. Help us not to give up too quickly. In all we do, may we be faithful to give You glory.  Teach us to be thankful, ever aware of the magnitude of Your love and care for us. When the days are long, open our eyes to Your presence. When we ... [Read More]

Yes, I Read My Daughter’s Texts {and no, it isn’t because I don’t trust her}

Yes, I am that mom.  Every night, I read my daughter's texts and log into her social media accounts to look at the direct messages and friends lists. I am the one who "stalks" anyone on those lists I don't know.  I am the mom who knew about Yik Yak two days before a student used it to make a bomb threat at my daughter's school because I was checking texts. One of my girl's friends said to her mom, "Mrs. Teri Lynne knows everything. She might even know before it happens." As much as I'd ... [Read More]
