28 Days, 28 Ways: Pray for His Wife

{Sundays are going to be our prayer days in this series. Each week I'll offer a guide for you to use as you invest in your marriage through prayer.} Pray for His Wife Yeah, I'm going there. In fact, I'm going there first — before I ever share ways you can pray for your husband. Stormie Omartian explains it far better than I could in her book, The Power of  a Praying Wife: The hard part about being a praying wife, other than the sacrifice of time, is maintaining a pure heart. It must be ... [Read More]

Whispers of Hope by Beth Moore {Book Review}

I have to admit. I'm looking forward to 2014. Well, except the part where my girl starts high school next fall. I have mixed emotions about that part of the coming year. But the truth is, after all the craziness of 2013, I have high hopes for next year. I'm anticipating some incredible things — I'm headed into the new year with an open heart and eager mind for what the Lord wants to do in me. A key component to starting a year well for me is finding a great book to use for my quiet time in ... [Read More]

In Times Like This

I'm sitting here watching the news about the devastation in Oklahoma—both yesterday and today.  I spent most of my childhood in Oklahoma.  Both my brothers and many of my friends live in the Oklahoma City metro area. I also have friends and family in Shawnee.  When the footage rolls across the screen, I'm choking back tears.  I breathed a sigh of relief as I scrolled through my Facebook feed, thankful to find out all my family and friends were safe. In times like this, we want to know why. ... [Read More]

Holy Week Meditations: A God Who Prays for Me

I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me because of their testimony.  John 17:20 Friends who pray are a special gift.  To have those who intercede on my behalf, who come into the throne room of God to lift my name, leaves me undone at times.   Older women who kneel on refurbished knees and fold arthritic hands to pray for my words, my family, my heart - a blessing immeasurable.   Peers who whisper prayers for productivity, patience, and perseverance ... The Husband’s Favorites: Day 5 {On Prayer Rocks}

{Another really old post.  But one that is definitely worth revisiting.   I hope you have enjoyed this week.  I think adding Scott's favorites here and there might become a regular feature around here.  It's been nice to have his perspective.} One of my favorite things is creativity and practicality. That is why I first loved this idea and it was very special to me how our daughter latched on to it and picked this up. Thanks for encouraging her in it and the encouragement you give to so many on ... [Read More]

The Husband’s Favorites: Day 3 {On Praying for Him}

{What a gift to read Scott's words about why he chose this post as one of his favorites.  And what a joy to pray for my husband every day.} Today I am thankful to have a wife that prays for me and not just praying for what she wants me to be. But instead, Teri Lynne faithfully prays Scripture for me to be shaped into the image of Christ. This post several years ago was a huge encouragement to me. ~ Scott Praying for Him For thirteen years I have had the honor of traveling life’s road ... [Read More]
