#MustRead 31 Days SeriesThe Reluctant Sojourner

Do you know Jessica?  You should.  She has a wise and tender heart and makes the beautiful and powerful art with her words. For example, More often than not, I want to live as Christ in ways that make me feel good…in comfort, in predictability, in success, in control. Knowing that open-handed living means I am utterly not in control is scary. This month she's writing every day on being a sojourner, to realize {and live in} the truth this world is not our home.  She's tackling some tough ... [Read More]

The 411 on Parenting from the Overflow

I am so stinkin' excited y'all!  I mean, really, over the top thrilled! Parenting from the Overflow releases on Monday! So, here are the answers to a couple of questions I've been asked about this book. What is Parenting from the Overflow? This parenting gig is hard work!  The days are long and the nights can be even longer.  Often as moms we find ourselves pulled into the undertow of diaper changes, carpools, and the never-ending laundry pile.  In Parenting from the Overflow, I invite you ... #MustRead 31 Days SeriesWalking in Grace & Beauty

So, here we are, day three already!  I bet you've already found some series you absolutely love.  Me too! Pre-Conference Jitters

In a few weeks I'll be heading back to Harrisburg, PA, for the Allume (formerly Relevant) conference.  It's a delightful weekend of catching up with my blogging buddies who have become the soul-sister kind of friends ... and an opportunity to grow as both a writer and a believer.  This is my third year to attend and I have loved it every time. This year I'll be helping out at the Avodah Coffee table.  Have I mentioned how much I love the Avodah Blend?  Oh my word ... best. coffee. ever.  Thanks ... [Read More]

#MustRead 31 Days SeriesThe Local Honey

Okay, I'm just going to be honest, part of the reason I wanted to do this series was because I feel like there are so many incredible writers who are impacting their communities and homes and doing amazing things online ... but sometimes they {we?} don't get noticed.  With 700-ish series linking up the October 31 Days challenge, it is inevitable that at least a few will get lost. So I am spending time going through link by link, hunting up the goodies that speak to my heart ... and if you ... [Read More]

Teaching Our Children to Yield

Teaching our children to yield is hard work.  I've heard it said we spend the first two years of their lives making them the center of the world and the next sixteen trying to undo that perception. Yielding doesn't come naturally to most of us.  We want our way.  Selfishness is inherent to our sin nature. My parents were very young when they had me—like seniors in high school young.   I imagine they'd readily admit they had no clue how to parent me and my two younger brothers, all born by the ...
