Those tween years are super hard. Part girl, part teen with all kinds of hormones and changes in personality and physicality — these years between 9 and 13 can be completely overwhelming for us as moms and for our sweet girls as well.
So many of the moms I know with girls in this age group want to be super intentional about investing in their girl’s spiritual life during this season — but they really aren’t sure how to do it! I totally understand, and I felt the same way when my girl was in that season.
I gathered up ten of my favorite resources for helping tweens navigate this super hard season of life — and I think any of these would make a great Christmas gift for your sweet girl this year.

The very top item on my list is a devotional book from my friends at Thou Art Exalted. Awake My Soul contains 260 devotions, each one based on a chapter of the New Testament. These devotions were written by women as well as teen and tween girls. The design is BEAUTIFUL and the content is excellent. I was thrilled to be able to contribute to this amazing resource for tweens (and teens). AND … because Annie and her team are so awesome, they are offering my readers a 20% discount! Use code TERILYNNE20 for 20% off purchase. Order Awake My Soul for your daughter HERE!
Want to remind your girl that God is faithful? I love this adorable Amen bow necklace from The Daily Grace Co. If your daughter is struggling to see how God is working in her life, this beautiful piece of jewelry can be a reminder to her that in Christ all the promises of God are yes and amen (2 Corinthians 1:20).
Lies Girls Believe & the Truth that Sets Them Free by Dannah Gresh is a MUST READ for every tween and teen girl. Dannah has an unrivaled passion for helping girls find their identity in Christ and from there live in a way that honors Him. And this book is fantastic. I also highly recommend ordering the companion book for moms so you can read and discuss these topics with your daughter.
Want to give her a gift that will inspire and encourage her all year long? Check out SHINE brightly magazine from GEMS Girls Club. This ministry is dear to me and I’m so thankful for the way they encourage girls to live with boldness for the Lord. Cindy and the whole GEMS team have been such encouragers to me and I’m grateful for all they do to serve and love girls well. {You can also order a copy of Praying for Girls: Asking God for the Things They Need Most in their shop — so fun to see my book pop up in places like this!}
I love giving Bibles! And I am excited about this one — the Heart of God Teen Study Bible in the CSB translation. {Learn why I love this translation here.}
Every passage in the Bible tells us something about who God is, who we are as those created in his image, and what God’s purpose is for us and for the world. By reading it, we learn to discern his heart. When we know his heart, we begin to think in line with his purpose. This Bible provides teens with the tools to get to know God better.
- Book introductions that point out the heart of God in each book
- Short reading sections that each begin with a Setting the Stage summary
- At the end of each reading section, a Seeing the Heart of God section draws out the message of the passage and helps teens apply its truths to their lives
- Biographical Snapshots profile people in the Bible to show how God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things
- Behind the Scenes sections provide key historical and cultural information
- Big Questions address some of the hard questions and difficulties found in the Bible
- Encountering God articles explore God’s relationships with biblical people and how he relates to us today
This would be a great Bible to encourage your daughter to see herself in light of what God says and to understand God’s character and heart.
If you get her a new Bible, she’d love these scented highlighters from The Daily Grace Co. They smell amazing and the colors are really pretty. I have them and LOVE them myself.
And what girl doesn’t love a journal?? The In Everything striped journal from The Daily Grace Co. is adorable! And will give her a place to record what she’s learning, feeling, and thinking.
I love these A to Z Identity Cards from GEMS Girls Club! {Are you catching a theme here?} I’m convinced that the best way we can nurture our daughters’ faith whether they are 3, 13, or 23 is to help them know and believe who God says they are. {This is one of the five key areas I encourage moms to pray for their girls.}
Isaiah 43 is one of my favorite chapters in the Bible. Those first four verses contain so much vital truth. I can’t count how many times I’ve used them to point my daughter and many other girls back to the precious truth they are known and loved by God. This Love Heart Affirmation Reversible Pillow is super cute and a perfect way to remind your girl how loved she is!
I love a good perpetual calendar … and I’ve learned that they can be a great way to get truth in front of our girls. This one isn’t new but it is full of important and encouraging truth for girls from the delightful Sadie Robertson — Live Original 365 Day Perpetual Calendar.
