So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love — Ephesians 3:17

I’m currently trying to save a geranium. We got it marked down {waaaay marked down} at Aldi a few weeks ago. Actually we got two. One of them was too far gone. But this other one, well, I’m doing all I can to save it. And so far, it’s hanging in there.
I’ve called this endeavor #ProjectGeranium. And I’ve shared about it a couple of time on Instagram.
Last week there was some new growth on the geranium. I felt like celebrating.
Marriage can be a lot like #ProjectGeranium.
We have to work hard and nurture the relationship. Sometimes we need a little Miracle Gro or pruning. Sometimes it feels like it’s not worth the effort. Sometimes we have to work really hard to find the new growth in the midst of all the mess.
But here’s what I know, when we are rooted and grounded in love, it’s like having a rich soil where our marriage can grow and weather the storms.
And then we need to be on the lookout for the growth God is doing in us!

Today’s Prayer
Lord, may we be committed to digging deep in our marriage. May we be willing to do the hard work of nurturing our relationship. When pruning is necessary, Lord, help us submit to the work You do in us. May we be rooted and grounded in Your love and continually offering that love to each other. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
