Capturing Moments of Joy

Monday was a great day!  Admittedly, I am a fan of Mondays.  I like the routine and fresh start they offer me each week.   I know, I’m a little weird.  Nonetheless, Monday was a great day.  It’s cooled off a little bit here in North Alabama.  Autumnal temperatures in the mornings and evenings are teasing me with the anticipation of pulling out sweaters and boots.  What’s not to love?

I spent my Monday doing laundry and writing as I listened to birds chirping and picked up papers tossed by the occasional breeze floating through the windows.   As I swapped out laundry and wrote about parenting, I realized once again how very full and rich my life is.

I live in abundance.  No one in my home needs to worry about what clothes to wear or what we’ll eat.  Our house is spacious and filled with books and music and laughter.  We attend a loving, vibrant church and live in a caring, engaged community.   We have friends and family who encourage and support us.   Our life is beyond anything I ever dreamed.

Do you ever have days where you sit in awe of the blessings God has given you?

The past few months have been crazy for us.  We’ve had some emotional ups and downs and faced some challenging situations.  But God is so faithful.  And in the midst of all the chaos, He’s shown me time and again how much He cares for me.   From lunches with friends who make me laugh to family movie nights with my two favorite people, I’m capturing moments of joy all around me.

Maybe you need to take a moment today and realize moments of joy.

Life can get busy and overwhelming really fast if we aren’t focused and intentional.  It’s easy to get caught up in the frenzy of to do lists and the fast pace of modern life.  But when we take the time to slow, to choose best over good, and to focus on the eternal, our lives become far less chaotic and far more fulfilling.    I’m learning a fresh perspective on life these days … exploring the way of living big without missing the small.  It’s a journey that is challenging but oh-so-rewarding.   Maybe you need a fresh perspective too?

What moments of joy have you captured lately?
