Traveling the Trace

Scott and I were in Nashville last weekend and drove home along a section of the Natchez Trace.  It was a beautiful drive and we stopped (a lot!) to take pictures along the way.  Here are a few of my favorites:

We had the best time, just the two of us.  No rush to be anywhere.  No cell phones.  No distractions.  Just time together.  We needed it.   The pictures are beautiful … but my one beautiful thing is the time away with Scott.

When was the last time you and your husband enjoyed an unhurried day together?

  1. My husband and I try to go on a “date” once a month, and that usually means going to a coffee shop and maybe doing some relaxed shopping. We also try to get away for a night or two every quarter. We deliberately take these times to connect in an unhurried way. Next year, we are going on a cruise for our 20th anniversary. We have not had a vacation together like this in close to 10 years. It’s time!

    • Kari, we are firm believers in dating and getting away. Such a gift to our marriage – and ultimately to our child. The cruise sounds fun. That’s on my list for our 20th anniversary in 4 years. 🙂

      • We went on one 5 years ago with two other couples. On that cruise, the six of us said, “We should go on a cruise when the next couple reaches 20 years.” (One of the other couples celebrated 20 years while on the cruise.) One of those couples is now divorced, and the other has just filed for divorce. We are determined to keep that commitment.

    • YES! Add the Trace to your bucket list … and we can meet in Nashville when you get to the end and enjoy some yummy food, great conversation, and good ol’ country music. 🙂 Love you too, Kristen!
