Change

“It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power.” ~ Alan Cohen

I’m not a big fan of change.

Seriously … I really like same, constant.
But the winds of change are upon me.  I can feel the breeze blowing and it seems to be picking up speed.
It’s exciting.
New opportunities.  New potential for growth.
It also scares me silly.
New risks.  New potential for failure.
I just keep hearing this voice … THE voice.
“I know the plans I have for you.”
And so, with as much courage as I can muster, I’m turning my face into the breeze.
How do you feel about change?
Is God moving you in a new direction?

  1. It doesn't matter if I like change (I don't) or not…it happens all the time. 2010 is ALL about change. I think change is a constant for everyone, but most especially for military life! It's all about my choice of attitude.

  2. Although I am not a fan of change generally speaking, I find that there are times I almost crave it. There is just something about feeling a change coming (a holy "restlessness") and knowing that I will be totally dependent on Him. And yes, military life is great for facilitating change, whether we want it or not! 🙂

  3. I can feel the change heading our way too. With hubby's upcoming trip to A-School and a move coming up for us this year, I'll admit my nerves are a little jittery and I'm anxious for all that is to come. But, despite the fact that I don't always enjoy change, I know that it's needed and I try to welcome it with open arms.

  4. You were right 🙂 I do like your post for today, but honestly, I feel like I'm in a tornado…not really a gentle breeze!

  5. Sweet Brooke, love you!! 🙂

Pattie, Courtney , & Mandy … so very true about how our attitude makes the difference!!

  6. I actually love change! I love the adventure and the newness of it! It certainly can be difficult at times, and the uncertainty of it causes me to cling to the Lord every moment…I like that part too! 🙂

  7. Oh I know that there is change happening in my life. I am eager to embrace my Father's plans and yet terrified to step out of the boat at the same time.

  8. I. Hate. Change! Seriously, I do…although sometimes I feel the need for it. Weird. 😀

When I know change is coming, I try to remind myself daily that my life is in God's hands and that He knows the plans for me…hope and a future!
