I hope you have been encouraged by this “What if … 10 ways to live well in today’s world” series. We’ll finish up this series next week. In case you’ve missed any, here is a recap:
- What if we do something instead of everything?
- What if we embrace good enough?
- What if we take a nap?
- What if we choose to be content?
- What if we pursue our passions?
- What if we give ourselves grace?
- What if we take off the masks?
- What if we mess everything up?
Today’s post is one we all need sometimes … because it’s so easy to get caught up in the hard and tedious, the heartbreaking and awful.
What if we laugh more?
We watch the news and scan the headlines on our social media and we see the very real results of living in a broken world. We lose our patience with our families and we get frustrated by the never ending litany of tasks to be done, bills to be paid, and places to be. We go to bed anxious and get up exhausted. Life overwhelms and we feel trapped, like hamsters on a wheel spinning but getting no place.
This, y’all, is not what God desire for us. This is not the abundance He promises. Today’s post is a simple invitation to you:
Laugh.
Look around you and ask yourself what gives you joy. Maybe it’s your children playing in the water or your husband winking over the fray in your home. Perhaps it’s your favorite creamer added to your morning coffee or opening a brand new journal. Celebrate the little moments—warm towels fresh from the dryer, the song of the ice cream truck jingling in your neighborhood, a card from a friend with just the right words.
Today make it your point to laugh. Embrace the small stuff because those are the very things that give meaning to the big stuff.
xo,
Teri Lynne
